LHT Developments - January 2007
The Housing Corporation have now given the Transfer of Engagements from
Rodney to LHT their final approval. This means that the legal papers
can now be submitted to the Housing Corporation Registration
department. The papers then go to the Financial Services Authority for
the final completion of the transfer. This means that the legal
transfer will not take place until the 1 April.
While the legal transfer taking place later than we planned is a
disappointment, it does make a lot of sense because it links with
the financial year end.
We are also now well along with the plans to deliver a major programme
of repairs and replacements to kitchens, windows and bathrooms in our
older stock. These programmes will start in April and we should soon
be able to circulate detailed 4 year plans which cover all of our older
houses and will explain what works we intend to undertake.
Action on anti-social behaviour
Rodney has obtained a court order against a tenant known for causing a nuisance
to neighbours. The tenant has subsequently left the property and peace has
reutrned. We take very seriously all accusations of noise disturbance. In this
instance we are indebted to neighbours who kept diaries of the incidents and
gave witness statements to our solicitors.
An easier way to find a home
Rodney has joined Liverpool's Propertypool – a new way of advertising properties
for rent that gives local people a bigger choice of homes.
More than half a dozen social landlords, including Liverpool City Council, advertise
what's available weekly, and people in need of a home can apply to rent from the
choice available. For more information see www.propertypool.org.uk, or call in at
any City Council One Stop Shop or at Rodney offices.
Barlow's Close Refurbishment Complete
We recently completed refurbishment work at Barlow's Close, replacing all the old
windows with new, double-glazed UPVC windows. Tenants are delighted with the new
windows and we hope, will be delighted with lower fuel bills.
